About Unrefined Romanism

Originally started as a personal blog, Unrefined Romanism is Catholic apologetics and evangelization lay-ministry founded by Jake Stone. It includes a number of articles, thoughts, and reflections on the Catholic faith, especially in light of the Papal call for the New Evangelization and the claims made by Protestantism.

About Jake Stone

Jake is a cradle Catholic who really likes getting into religious debates with people. He grew up nominally Catholic at best, and stopped going to Mass regularly in high school before ceasing entirely after graduation. Fast forward to years later his faith was challenged by a Protestant friend of his and, while the accusation didn't sound right to him, he didn't have any way to defend against it. So he did the unthinkable. He looked up the answer, spent the next few days reading a bunch of Catholic theology, and started going to Mass again.

After awhile and through the Grace of God, he started teaching Sunday School to 6th graders before moving on to RCIA-Teen where, year-in and year-out, he gets to run around the classroom acting like an idiot, under the guise of teaching the fundamentals of Catholicism with a healthy dose of apologetics mixed in.

On a related note, he's available to speak at your parish and/or event so that you too can experience him acting like an idiot in front of people you care about. But the talk will be energetic and the topic will be informative. He promises. If this is something that interests you, contact us for more details.
